Melody came to Australian Publishing Press with original stories, poetry, characters and imaginative worlds, but she was unsure how to turn that growing body of work into a consistent, professionally produced catalogue. She initially signed up for editing and publishing support for one book. The first project gave her a clearer path from creative idea to finished publication, and the relationship expanded to the rest of the books now presented on her author website.
Melody remained the creator and decision-maker, while our team led the practical publishing work: editorial planning, manuscript editing, proofreading, cover development, interior preparation, metadata, platform setup and distribution support. Because every title had a different structure and audience need, we did not force the catalogue through a single template. Each book received its own editorial and production route.
Beyond the books, we designed and developed Melody's author website so readers could discover the catalogue in one coherent space. Publishing support extended across Amazon, Ingram and Barnes & Noble, while audiobook production is currently in progress. What began as a one-book assignment became an ongoing partnership spanning editorial, design, distribution, digital presence and audio.
Melody retained full ownership of her manuscripts, published works and intellectual property. Australian Publishing Press provided professional self-publishing services, took no ownership stake and claimed no share of her royalties.
Australian Publishing Press provides self-publishing services under one roof. We do not operate as a vanity press: authors retain their rights and royalties, and where platform publishing is included, the book is set up through the author's own publishing profile/account so Australian Publishing Press does not take ownership of the author's intellectual property.
A Different Publishing Path for Every Book (8 Titles)
Melody brought a highly imaginative concept that had first taken shape as a screenplay. The world, characters and visual moments were vivid, but she needed a clear route for translating a cinematic idea into a book readers could follow and publishers could distribute.
Australian Publishing Press led the book-development process: shaping the narrative sequence, refining transitions, editing the manuscript, proofreading the final text, developing the cover and preparing the files for publication. The work focused on preserving Melody's symbolism and voice while giving the story a stronger reading journey.
The original concept became a professionally packaged published title, establishing the editorial and production standard that encouraged Melody to continue the partnership with additional books.
With a larger cast, several connected story movements and a world extending beyond the first book, Melody had rich material but needed help organising it into a coherent narrative that could reward returning readers without excluding new ones.
Our editorial team clarified the book's multi-part structure, strengthened continuity between characters and themes, refined the prose and prepared a consistent visual and publishing presentation. Cover, proofreading, formatting, metadata and distribution work were coordinated rather than handled as disconnected tasks.
The story became a structured follow-on that could also stand on its own, expanding Melody's fictional world while keeping the reading experience clear and professionally presented.
Melody's manuscript combined lyrical language, parallel worlds, music, grief and environmental themes. The ideas were distinctive, but the density of imagery risked obscuring the central emotional journey and leaving readers without a strong narrative anchor.
Australian Publishing Press helped identify the main through-line, refine scene order and pacing, edit the lyrical prose without flattening it, and proofread the finished manuscript. We then developed the cover and publication-ready files so the visual identity reflected the book's mysterious tone.
A complex collection of ideas was shaped into a focused, market-ready novella with a clear emotional centre and the foundation for an identifiable series.
As the next Black Rose Threshold instalment, the manuscript had to continue an established mythology while remaining accessible. Melody had the new ideas and world-building, but needed support managing continuity, backstory and the balance between familiar elements and fresh development.
We approached the title as both a sequel and an individual publishing product. Editing addressed continuity, exposition, pacing and terminology, while proofreading and quality checks protected consistency. The cover and formatting were aligned with the series identity, followed by platform and distribution preparation.
The book extended the series without feeling repetitive, giving existing readers continuity and new readers a clearer entry into Melody's fictional world.
This manuscript brought together drought, grief, ecological balance, friendship and a changing boundary between worlds. Melody had many strong scenes and themes, but needed help deciding which emotional thread should lead the reader through the story.
Our team helped organise the material around its central emotional journey, refine the pacing of the fantasy elements and strengthen the connection between personal loss and the environmental storyline. Editing, proofreading, cover design, formatting and publication support then carried the book into a consistent series edition.
The ideas became a more cohesive young-adult fantasy in which the emotional and ecological themes support one another rather than competing for attention.
Melody had three related bodies of poetry - moving through the everyday world, the sky and the ocean - but needed a unifying structure that would make them feel like one deliberate collection rather than three manuscripts placed together.
Australian Publishing Press helped arrange the poems into a clear progression, establish section breaks and pacing, proofread the collection and develop an interior treatment suited to poetry. Cover development, formatting and publishing preparation were coordinated around the collection's movement from noticing, to rising, to deepening.
Three collections became one coherent volume with a purposeful emotional arc and a professional presentation designed to preserve the breathing space poetry requires.
Melody had the story, metaphysical themes and accompanying artwork, but the elements needed to feel like parts of one book rather than separate creative pieces. The challenge was to protect the artwork while ensuring the text remained readable and the edition looked commercially complete.
Our role centred on editorial polish, proofreading, visual coordination and publication preparation. We helped create a clearer relationship between text and imagery, established a consistent interior presentation, developed the cover direction and prepared the title for professional platform listing and distribution.
The story and artwork were brought together as a unified visual-literary edition, giving Melody's creative concept a more deliberate and reader-ready form.
The poems were designed to move visually across the page and were accompanied by colourful artwork. Standard formatting could easily destroy the shapes, rhythm and relationship between poem and image, so the book required more specialised production attention.
Australian Publishing Press treated layout as part of the authorship. We proofread with sensitivity to intentional line breaks, refined page composition, coordinated text and artwork, checked the interior across formats and prepared the cover, metadata and distribution files without forcing the poems into conventional blocks.
The finished edition preserved the collection's visual character while making it practical to publish and present professionally across retail and distribution channels.
